KoRus Natural Gas Pipeline
| | | Map courtesy of the Wall Street Journal | The KoRus Sakhalin natural gas pipeline will connect Sakhalin in the Russian Far East with the Korean peninsula and Japan. The roughly 2,500 kilometer pipeline will provide needed markets for natural gas from the Russian Far East. The KoRus pipeline is the only economically viable pipeline solution for providing natural gas to the Korean peninsula.
FSI began assembling the necessary agreements for the KoRus pipeline several years ago following a long history of involvement with Northeast Asian energy.FSI has identified the routes and logistics for the pipeline.
Working with natural gas consumers in the Republic of Korea, FSI is creating a market for Russian gas that was previously stranded. FSI has agreements with key participants in the KoRus pipeline, including South Korean development partners and with major Russian energy suppliers who will participate in the construction and operation of the pipeline in Russia.
New England Electrical Generation
FSI is working with a major industrial client, and another independent power developer on a 500MW independent power project for the New England Market. This $400 million project will provide needed generation to and underserved area of the New England market. The brownfield development has strong local and state support. The parties hope to announce the project within the next 6 months.
Gulf Coast Generation
FSI is supporting a major industrial client in the development of alternative sources for both steam and electricity for a Louisiana facility. The client has a balanced steam and electric load, and will be the primary offtake customer for this 50MW +/- electrical generating facility which will also provide steam to the industrial customer. This $35 million dollar project should be finalized before the end of 2003.
